Short version: a portable DVD-and-screen boombox for $139.95 to your door. Nobody else sells this exact unit, so the honest comparison is against the nearest thing on Amazon — and against QVC's own price for the same boombox a year ago.

Wait, hasn't QVC done this one before?

It has, and that turns out to be the most useful fact of the day. The previous version of this boombox, item E327491, was QVC's Today's Special Value on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, also at $129.98. That listing is still on qvc.com. It reads SOLD OUT, and the last price attached to it is $159.

So the pattern is clear enough. The boombox arrives once a year as a TSV at $129.98, sits at $159 the rest of the time, and sells through.

A dollar less, a better panel type, a newer radio and a longer cord for the same money. That is a rarer outcome than it sounds; most repeat TSVs we have logged come back flat or higher.

Is it cheaper on Amazon, Walmart or Target?

No, because it is not there. We looked for the QVC item number, the model number IML5220 and the plain description, and came up empty everywhere except QVC.

Altec Lansing's own store carries 82 products right now. Not one of them has a screen on it. The closest thing the brand sells is the SoundRover View, a 14-inch 1080p unit at $299.99 — and it is out of stock on the brand's site while Amazon has it at $249.99. Worth filing away if a bigger screen is what you actually want.

Nearest rival: Emerson EDL-2901, 9" LCD$229.99Prime–$229.991:02 a.m.

The Emerson EDL-3000 is the fair fight: 10.1 inches, IPS panel, DVD, HDMI in, 4.5 stars from 46 raters. It costs $135.04 more than the QVC boombox delivered — very nearly double — for a screen a tenth of an inch bigger.

One real difference sits behind that gap, and it is not a small one. Both Emersons have a built-in ATSC tuner, so they pull in free over-the-air television with the antenna alone. The Altec has no tuner. Its "TV streaming" name means you plug a Roku or a Fire Stick into the HDMI port, which also means you need Wi-Fi wherever you are using it.

If the whole point is watching broadcast TV at a campsite with no signal bars, pay the Emerson premium. If the point is DVDs, a phone over Bluetooth and a streaming stick at the beach house, the $135 stays in your pocket.

What do you actually get in the box?

QVC's spec list is complete for once, and the manufacturer's quick-start guide fills in the rest.

USB limitFlash drives up to 32 GB

Two footnotes from the manual that the product page skips. The USB port tops out at 32 GB, which rules out the big drive most people already own. And the unit outputs karaoke lyrics to a connected TV when you feed it a CDG disc, which QVC never mentions.

Six watts total is what it is. This is a picnic-table speaker, not a party speaker.

What is the real total after Easy Pay and the codes?

Five payments of $26.00 come to $130.00. Two cents over the single payment, which is the same non-charge our Easy Pay walkthrough has found on every TSV we have priced so far.

Two codes sat on the page. VIPTSV5 takes 5% off a Today's Special Value for QCard or HSN Card holders, which lands at $123.48 plus shipping, or $133.45 delivered. HELLO20 takes $20 off a first order over $40, so a new customer pays $119.95 delivered. We did not test whether they stack.

Returns run 30 days. At 4.55 lbs this is light enough that the return shipping deduction will not hurt much if it goes back.

When is it on TV today?

It isn't — and that is unusual. We read all four QVC channels for Thursday and found no Altec Lansing hour anywhere. The main channel runs Black Friday Sale Preview blocks most of the day in mid-September, QVC2 is wall-to-wall fashion, QVC3 leans kitchen, and QVC Home is on decor. Yesterday's Le Creuset gets one hour on QVC3.

Most TSVs get four to six hours of airtime. This one is getting sold by the website alone. Today's full grid has the hour-by-hour.

FAQ

Will it come back cheaper? On the two-year record, no. It was $129.98 last September and $129.98 now, with $159 in between.

Can I watch regular TV on it? Not on its own. No tuner. HDMI plus a streaming stick plus Wi-Fi, or a DVD.

How long do 8 D batteries last? The manual does not say, and neither does QVC, so we won't guess.

Where's today's HSN deal? Thursday's Today's Special is a Rhonda Shear bra two-pack, and this comparison lays out how the two daily deals differ.

Best way to buy today

QVC, on a technicality: no one else has it. The number that makes it a real buy rather than a default one is the $135.04 gap to the nearest 10-inch rival on Amazon.

Second-best is a QCard holder using VIPTSV5 at $133.45 delivered. A brand-new QVC customer at $119.95 with HELLO20 does better than either.

Skip it if you need over-the-air TV, if six watts sounds thin, or if you want the 14-inch SoundRover View instead — that one is $50 cheaper on Amazon than on the brand's own site.
